Flower placement guidelines

In a continuing effort to maintain the beauty of the grounds of Woodbine Cemetery and to expedite mowing and trimming, the following graveside policy will be in effect.

  1. Only metal based containers may be placed in the ground during mowing season (April 1– Nov. 30). Limit 2 bases per grave.

    • Glass, ceramic, plastic, styrofoam, wood, aluminum foil, and clay vessels, as well as stuffed animals, toys, pictures or other trinkets are not to be placed on or in the ground.

    • Tall metal tripod arrangements are also prohibited due to their large footprint.

    • It is highly recommended to use a one piece flower base with a metal spike on the end. These are more easily removed and replaced during trimming even when the ground dries out and hardens. Consideration should be given to avoid top heaviness of flower arrangement.

  2. Wrought iron hangers (shepherd’s hook) are highly recommended, from which may hang any desired arrangement or flag.

  3. For arrangements placed on stones or monuments, special care should be taken to secure them in such a manner that they withstand strong winds.

  4. All memorial flags will be flown from Memorial Day to the 4th of July, then removed.

  5. For new burials, these guidelines will take effect one month from the date of funeral.

  6. Woodbine reserves the right to remove all arrangements whose appearance is deemed unacceptable, particularly prior to Easter, Memorial Day, Labor Day and Christmas.

  7. Prior approval must be obtained before planting any live flowers or shrubs.

  8. The planting of trees in a family lot is prohibited.
